Privacy Policy

Yonne is developed by Vendorme Technologies. Last updated: 2025.

1. Introduction and Who We Are

Yonne ("the App") is a delivery and logistics platform developed and operated by Vendorme Technologies ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and related services.

By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App. This policy is designed to meet the requirements of applicable data protection laws and the Google Play Developer Program Policies regarding user data disclosure.

2. Scope and Applicability

This Privacy Policy applies to all users of the Yonne app, including senders, receivers, and anyone who creates an account or interacts with our services. It covers data collected through the App, our backend systems, and in connection with delivery and payment services we facilitate.

It does not apply to third-party websites, apps, or services that you may access via links from the App, or to the practices of independent drivers or couriers who use our platform. Those parties may have their own privacy policies.

3. Information We Collect

We collect information that you provide directly, information generated when you use our services, and information from your device (with your consent where required).

3.1 Account and profile information

When you register, we collect your name, phone number, email address (if provided), and optionally your profile photo if you sign in with Google. We use this to create and manage your account, verify your identity, and display your profile to other users (e.g. sender/receiver names on orders) only as necessary for the service.

3.2 Phone numbers

We collect and store your phone number to create and manage your account, to link you to deliveries as sender or receiver, to allow drivers and our support team to contact you in relation to active orders, and to send you one-time codes (e.g. OTP) for login verification. We do not share your phone number with third parties for marketing purposes.

3.3 Delivery and transaction information

We collect pickup and delivery addresses, recipient and sender details, package descriptions, declared values, and any notes you add. We use this to facilitate deliveries, assign drivers, and resolve disputes. We may retain order history for operational, legal, and safety purposes.

3.4 Payment information

When you pay for a delivery, we do not store your full card or mobile money PIN. We collect payment method details (e.g. mobile money operator, phone number used for payment), transaction identifiers, and payment status so we can process payments, issue refunds when applicable, and prevent fraud. Payment processing may be handled by third-party providers; their handling of data is governed by their own policies and applicable regulations.

3.5 Location data

With your permission, we collect precise location (GPS) and approximate location (e.g. from network or IP) to set pickup and delivery addresses, show your position on the map during an active order, enable "push location" features for receivers, and improve delivery accuracy. We share location data with drivers only during an active order (from assignment until delivery is completed). We do not continuously track or share your location outside of active orders for marketing.

3.6 Device and technical information

We collect device type, operating system, unique device identifiers (e.g. for push notifications), app version, and language settings. We use this to deliver push notifications, fix bugs, and improve compatibility. We may also collect your device token for push notification services (e.g. Pushy, Firebase) so we can send you order updates, payment confirmations, and service messages.

3.7 Communications and support

If you contact support or report an issue, we collect the content of your messages and any information you provide so we can assist you and improve our services.

4. Push Notifications and In-App Messaging

We use push notification services (including third-party providers such as Pushy and, where applicable, Firebase Cloud Messaging) to send you real-time updates about your orders, including: order status changes (e.g. driver assigned, in transit, delivered), payment confirmations or payment failures, and wallet-related notifications. To deliver these, we register your device token with our servers and with the notification provider.

You can disable push notifications in your device settings; however, this may limit your ability to receive important order and payment updates. We do not use push notifications for marketing unless you have given separate consent.

5. Wallet and In-App Balance

If you use the in-app wallet or balance feature, we collect and process data related to your wallet balance, top-ups, and payments made from the wallet. This includes transaction amounts, timestamps, and references. We use this to maintain your balance, complete transactions, and comply with financial and anti-fraud obligations. Wallet data is stored securely and is not shared with third parties for marketing.

6. QR Code and Delivery Verification

When you send or receive a delivery, we may generate and display QR codes or completion codes for delivery verification. Scanning a driver's QR code or presenting your code helps confirm handover. Data processed in connection with these features (e.g. order ID, completion status) is used only to verify and complete deliveries and to maintain order records.

7. How We Use Your Data

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve the App and our services
  • Process and track orders and payments
  • Communicate with you about orders, account, and support
  • Send push notifications and service-related messages
  • Prevent fraud and ensure safety
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms
  • Conduct analytics (in aggregated, non-personally identifiable form where possible) to improve user experience and service quality

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We may share data with service providers (e.g. cloud hosting, payment processors, map providers, push notification services) only to the extent necessary to provide our services, under contracts that require them to protect your data.

8. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We may share your information with:

  • (a) Drivers and logistics partners involved in your delivery, to the extent needed to complete the order
  • (b) Payment processors and financial institutions to process payments and refunds
  • (c) Service providers who assist us with hosting, analytics, push notifications, and support
  • (d) Law enforcement or regulatory bodies when required by law or to protect rights and safety
  • (e) Other users only as necessary (e.g. sender/receiver names and contact details for an order)

We do not share your personal data with third parties for their marketing. We may share aggregated or de-identified data that cannot reasonably be used to identify you.

9. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and comply with legal obligations. Order and transaction data may be retained for a longer period where required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g. fraud prevention, tax, or regulatory compliance). You may request deletion of your account and associated data subject to applicable law and our retention requirements.

10. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. This includes secure transmission (e.g. HTTPS), access controls, and secure storage. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security but we take your privacy seriously and respond to incidents in line with our obligations.

11. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Data portability
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
  • Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

To exercise these rights, contact us using the details in the Contact section. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law. You can also manage app permissions (e.g. location, notifications) in your device settings.

12. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for users under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

13. International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed and stored in countries other than your own, including where our servers or service providers are located. We ensure appropriate safeguards (e.g. contracts, adequacy decisions) are in place where required by law for such transfers.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy in the App and/or by other reasonable means. Your continued use of the App after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
